Part #1 of a Series on using Twitter for Business.
As a real estate broker I am always looking for ways to improve traffic, and of course business to my website from social media sites. I’m not any different than other businesses that want to gain clients from social media sites like Twitter. If you are like me you follow and are followed by people that could be your clients. For me that is a lot of residents of Eugene Oregon.
I’m going to share with you one way that I just recently discovered that I feel has a lot of potential, especially if a lot of us help each other out. What are friends for after all?
Some of the tools I find useful in using this technique are to have the Delicious Toolbar installed in your Browser. I use Firefox and if you don’t already have the Delicious Toolbar installed you can get it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3615.
Another great thing for your website is to add social media buttons if you don’t already have them, so people can easily add your site to numerous social media sites.
Also join friendfeed.com if you don’t already belong, my profile is here; http://friendfeed.com/dpease. In friendfeed, click on the Account link in the upper right corner. Under Services click on the add/edit and make sure you at least have your Delicious and Twitter accounts signed in. You can add as many as you want, but for this post you only need those two.
Now right below check the Public Feed box. Now scroll down to Feed publishing and check the first box, Publish my FriendFeed enties on Twitter as ‘your_name’. Now you can other boxes as you choose.
Now the fun starts
I am going to use my Eugene Real Estate website for you to test this on and when you are finished I want you to DM me through Twitter and…. let me know which site you would like me to do the same for you. Again, what are friends for? Delicious and Twitter can be very powerful tools.
Now while you are on my website, save it to your Delicious Bookmarks either in the FireFox toolbar or I have added the +Share button located in the lower right side of my site at the bottom of the burgundy section, just click to open, then click on Delicious.
Here is the most important step: When the Delicious – Edit Bookmark page comes up, in the title section add a hash mark (#, no space) next to the city or whatever you want to be seen for. In my test I put the #Eugene and #Oregon like so;
You can now add tags like below, no comma’s between words and underscore for keyword phrases.
eugene_real_estate eugene_oregon realestate real_estate
Your done! Now when people search using your terms, like in my city #Eugene or #Oregon my site is there and receives local recognition and traffic. If you have others bookmarking you to Delicious and making good comments and most importantly adding the hash marks (#) you will gain more authority, recognition and become popular. The more people endorsing you in Delicious the more of an authority you will become.
Try it on my website http://www.dennispeaseteam.com/, don;t forget the hash mark in the title and DM me for a return favor when finished.
I hope this first in a series has been useful. It’s not as complicated as it may sound and with a group of us supporting each other it can give you awesome exposure in your market.
